AIM Level 3 Upper Quadrant - Ottawa 2024

Virtual Sessions from 6 pm - 8:30 pm:

Feb 22nd , March 5th, March 13th, March 26th, April 9th, April 16th


In-person dates: 8:30am - 4:30pm

Feb 24-25th, March 16-17th, April 20-21st

** in addition to the course times listed above, there will be at least 3-4 hours of at-home self study assigned PRIOR to each course weekend.

ATTENDANCE FOR ALL CLASS TIME IS MANDATORY. IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND THIS COURSE IN ITS ENTIRETY YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO REGISTER & CANNOT BE GIVEN CREDIT FOR THE COURSE.

Registration will be refunded in full if the course is cancelled by the participant more than a month prior to the start of the course, less a $25.00 admin fee.

A $250.00 cancellation fee applies if you cancel your registration within a month of the start of the course. Once the course has started no refund can be issued.


** Proof of completion of Level 2 Upper is required to begin the course. Please be able to produce the certificate upon request, but you do not need to bring to class.


The New Orthopaedic Division e-Manuals (online) are the required reference materials for this course. The fee for the e-Manuals is a ONE-TIME fee of $125.00+tax which grants you access to the clinical techniques manual for the highest Level of course you have participated in, as well as the e-Theory Manual. Your access to the “living” updated versions of the manuals will remain in place as long as you participate in an AIM Level Course every two years. If two years lapse since your last course with us, you will still have access to the manuals, but not their future updated versions.


If you have never paid the $125.00 fee you will be provided with instructions to complete the purchase about 2-4 weeks before the start of the course.


If you have paid the $125.00 previously (including at Level 1) your access/permissions will automatically be upgraded about 2-4 weeks before the start of the course.

Functional Dry Needling Level 1

Feb. 10 - 11, 2024

FOR: PT, OT, DC, ATC, MD, DO, NP, PA, RN*


Functional Dry Needling (FDN) Level 1 teaches technical proficiency in foundational dry needling techniques. This course gives clinicians the tools to elevate their practice and fosters confidence and competence to integrate dry needling into practice the very next day. Musculature taught includes lumbar spine, posterior hip, thigh and lower extremity, cervical spine, shoulder and upper extremity.

Anatomy, safety, precautions, and psychomotor aspects of needling are reinforced alongside instruction in history, supportive evidence, clinical application and reasoning and use of electrical stimulation with needling. FDN Level 1 is a hybrid learning experience that integrates online learning prior to the lab-based weekend intensive.

Course Objectives/Outcomes

Upon completion of this course the learner will be able to:

  • describe the practice of Functional Dry Needling, including how this adjunctive treatment can influence functional outcomes for patients. 
  • apply solid clinical reasoning in the application of Functional Dry?Needling.? 
  • describe the appropriate use of percutaneous electrical stimulation with Functional Dry Needling for enhanced outcomes. 
  • demonstrate safe, effective, and appropriate application of Functional Dry Needling. 
  • discuss the scope of practice,?functional benefits, and advocacy considerations regarding dry needling. 
  • discuss evidenced-based, patient-centered intervention case scenarios that reflect best clinical practice in Functional Dry Needling.

Applicability

While EIM is an AOTA approved provider, these courses have not been submitted for AOTA approval and thus CEU credit would need to be requested by the individual learner at this time.

At this time, EIM’s functional dry needling content is not available to PTAs.
